Library Catalog Help

Frequently Asked Questions and How-to guide for using Getty's Library Catalog.

How do I obtain a patron ID and password to sign in to the Library Catalog?

Patron ID numbers and passwords are used to request and circulate physical material within the Library. Patron ID numbers do not provide access to subscription databases or digitized materials with the note "Access is available only to on-site readers and Getty staff."

Patron ID numbers are issued to researchers who intend to visit the Library to consult materials in-person as a registered Reader as well as issued to Getty Staff, Scholars, Interns, Guest Researchers, Docents, and Volunteers.

If you would like to visit the library as a Reader, please submit a Library Request Form to make an appointment.

Getty Staff, Scholar, Intern, Guest Researcher, Docent or Volunteer who would like a patron ID, can visit the Reference Desk, Monday – Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. If you are unable to visit during Library hours, contact the Reference Desk at 310-440-7390 or submit a Library Request Form.
